It has been a wacky year

I just have a few moments here, so, a quick run down.
Lost 50 pounds at this point of my diet.
Birth mom diagnosed with cancer.
Steelers beat Cardinals.
Went to see birth mom for last time.
Started accellerated college program to get a teacher certification. I will be done by next May.
Birth Step-dad who was already in bad health, passed away.
Went to see birth mom AGAIN! :) She passed 10 days later.
Attended summer schhool for accellerated college program. Very intense studies. Finished at the end of July.
Went to service for Birth mom and step dad.
Got Son off to college - his first year!
Started school - real stuff like lesson plans and teaching classes.
Started 2nd semester of accellerated college program. - More studying.
Had regained 25 pounds due to stress, work, and sitting around studying and researching stuff for courses. Started back on the diet. Lost 15 pounds
Thanksgiving
Gained back 10 pounds - YUK -and my scale broke...so I have to buy a new one!
So far, I have averaged all "A"s in my courses. And this semester, I have a 98 in one course and a 97 in the other. :)

Projections:
I will finish the 2nd semester of the college program this week. The 3rd semester starts in January and runs through the end of April. I will become fully certified after that.
By next May, I may start blogging again. However, I have had many requests to start a facebook page to keep contact with people. So, I may start that in May. Time will tell.

Next summer, I will be dieting, sleeping and watching the World Cup!

By this time next year, I am going to be doing wonderful - as always - only thinner.

A wonnerful time

Xmas vacation is here, or was.

We went to Key West the past few of days. It was a wonderful time. We went with some friends of ours. We stayed at the Southernmost Hotel at the end of Duval Street.

We arrived on the Winter Soltice, Dec. 21st. When we got to town, we took a trolley train around town to get in all of the tourist sights. That took a little over an hour. Then it was on to Duval Street. First stop was Sloppy Joe's Bar, a famous drinking establishment. We didn't need the trolley ride to figure that out, but, we needed to kill some time before we could check into our room.

I had decided before the trip that I was going to basically drink rum drinks the whole time there. My first order was a Rum Runner. It was great. I ordered the Conch Fritters to help get it down.

That evening, we went to Mallory Square to watch the Sunset with what seemed like about a thousand other pagans to worship the sunset before the longest night of the year. I had never seen the "green flash" at sunset, but, that night, I saw it. What a surprise, and of course that called for another round of drinks.

The next morning, er, late morning, we awoke, and headed out again. Started at the Butterfly Museum, but, there were too many kids there, so we headed back up Duval Street. We had breakfast somewhere. All I remember was that the Steak and Eggs tasted wonderful. We headed to the Oyster House because someone in the group wanted clams. Upon arriving and realizing it was 5 o'clock somewhere, a round of drink was ordered to start the afternoon off properly. We had a nice view of the marina, so we stayed there for a couple rounds and buckets of clams.

We strolled/staggered down Duval street again. In and out of a bunch of little touristy shops. At one point CECA started to have pain in her foot so we fetched a taxi back to the hotel were we took a nap.

A few hours later, we were back on Duval street buying more stuff, and having more drinks as we worked up an appetite for dinner. I remember the weather being beautiful, mild with a slight breeze and no humidity! It made for nice sleeping weather. We found a place for dinner near the hotel. As the sun was setting, I ventured out onto a pier to attempt to see a green flash again, but, I must have blinked or something like that, because I didn't even see the sun go down that evening. The were both there one minute, and the next thing I knew I was picking up myself and heading back to the dinner table. Of course, I had to get something to wash down the lump in my throat, so, more rum.

I calculated that we were only awake for about 10 hours that day. Time flies when you are having rum.

Our last day I awoke to the horrid sound of a roaster greeting the morning sunrise with the traditional bird calls. If I had had a gun, there would have been another traditional sound and a cloud of feathers, but, I didn't have a gun.

That morning, I decided that rum was not good in large quantities. However, beer is, so, I started ordering ice cold ones, instead of the shy little drinks that hide behind little umbrellas. Also, it was our last day there.

I knew I wasn't responsible for getting us home, so, at lunch, I tried one of the local microbrewery beers. Not bad. It even helped me win at pool with our friend, who I never beat at pool. That was it for me. Beer was the drink of choice for the remainder of the stay - another 6 hours!

We got home safely.

I must have over did it on the beers or was it the rum. I left on Sunday morning, and today, Wednesday, upon climbing back on the scale, it says that I added ten pounds over the past three days. Hell who cares, we deserved a break, and this vacation was perfect for resting. Lots of sleep.

Back on the diet, and now, I have to wrap a bunch of presents to have under the tree tonight. Merry Xmas to you all.

Obama comparisons

Lots of people have been making a big deal about Obama being the first African-American. I agree, it is a wonderful thing. Many of the people I know have been talking about how this is like the second coming of Jack Kennedy. I agree with that too, but, there was something inside of me that didn't like that analogy 100%. Finally yesterday, a neighbor from down the street, who is British (accent and all) made the appropriate comparison/analogy.

Obama winning the White House is like Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in baseball. Robinson couldn't be just any "negro" ball player, he had to be one of the best. And in the "major" leagues, he had to prove that he was one of the best. Do I think that Obama has already proved himself one of the best? Yes!

If you look at W and McCain side by side, and compare them to Obama, there is no comparison. They are just barely average politicians. Obama is an All-Star compared to them. They just happened to be playing for the Yankees (republicans) who made them look good. Obama/Robinson is coming up with the Dodgers (democrats - those of you who know my hatred of the Dodgers realize this was a hard sentence for me to compose.)

Like Robinson, Obama had to be better than average in order to win this past election. For the African-American candidate to win, they were going to have to be far-superior to anything from the other side, just to get over the hump. Winning championships helps you do that.

Now that this has happened, yes, I think it is great!

Today is my sister's birthday. She died this past May in a house fire. She didn't get out in time. She left three daughters and a husband behind.

It was a busy day at work. Met with the boss. Had a couple of meetings. Then went to coach a new soccer team. We have been together for about two weeks.

We were playing one of the established sides in the local area. We fell behind just after halftime, but tied the game up with about 13 minutes left in the match. The final was a 1-1 draw.

Before the game to get the players ready, I told them about my sister, that today was her birthday, and that I was dedicating the game to her. The players responded appropriately. I was proud of them.

Tomorrow, we have another game. I wish my sister could have saw the coaching job tonight, she would have been proud.

I miss you, Sis.

America is growing up

Obama-elect is in place, the cabinet is starting to take shape, and America is starting to look in the mirror at herself and smile again. The ugly duckling of growing up through the past two hundred some odd years, is maturing into the beauty that America has always promised. The skeleton in the closet was the slavery issue, and civil rights. America is growing up.

Unfortunately, the right-wing of the republicans don't get it. The elite don't want the "Joe the Plumbers" to get ahead. They like Hockeymoms to live in fear and terror. Rush and company have already started their rants against Obama. They have started their "hate" campaign against him with the renewed vigor of a clan lynching. As if we didn't know this was going to happen. And if you think Obama will be caught off-guard, think again, that is, if you nony's have a brain that works.

Obama oratory powers far exceed anything that is presented by the right-wing. With the bully-pulpit now at his disposal, Obama doesn't need to shut these wingnuts up, but, simply, offer his normal exceptional tones in speeches and addresses. America is growing up, and learning to understand the differences of the babbling W administration, and what they can expect from the Obama administration. And those difference will be in favor of the people.

Hate eventually dies out. Knowledge and truth always win over fear and terror. In order to win the War on Terror, what this country needs is knowledge and truth, two things saddly lacking in the current administration.

When the followers of Fox see everyone else learning and getting ahead, Fox will be left behind. America is growing up.

Does anyone else have that floating feeling? (nony's need not respond)

Since Tuesday night, life has seemed more enjoyable. The atmosphere of change, truly being "on the way" lightens the load for me. We have 70 some days left of a lame-duck prez, and then the changes will start.

However, living in a predominantly red-area, of the now BLUE state of Florida, I run into people who have that look that I had for the past eight years! They can't understand why Obama got elected. When I admit that I voted for Obama, I get the scorn of these people. What is fun is attempting to discuss with them why. Before when I tried this, after Bush had won, I would get the cold shoulder, or comments about how stupid I was for not voting for Bush.

This week, it has been different! I have noticed that look that I used to see in the mirror, on the faces of those with "W 04" bumper stickers and "Rush" ties. They have been passed by in this election. However, this year, when discussing my vote versus theirs, I am no longer called stupid. They are listening.

The first couple of days, there was anger, but yesterday, the questions of why started. And to my amazement, they actually started to listen. So, here is what I started telling them:

No, I don't believe my taxes will go up. I believe they will go down.

Socialism is just a word. We have socialized many things in this country already and nothing is broken because of it, as opposed to deregulated capitalism.

The Gay Marriage and Abortion issues have nothing to do with running the country. I simply asked how will either of these issues balance the budget, or fix the stock market so that their retirement accounts won't lose more than what they have already lost?

I don't believe that the Democratic Congress has caused the current financial disaster as much as the deregulation put in place by the republicans over the past decade.

Yes, I do think that one party controlling all three branches of the government is bad. Look what happened last time: George W. Bush had this scenario only a couple of years ago. And look at the mess we are in now. However, I don't think having a conservative Supreme Court right now means that Obama will have control of all three branches of government.

I think W and Obama are two completely different types of people. W is a greedy rich oil person, whereas Obama has already proven that he is willing to work for the people! And McCain voted for W's policies 90% of the time.

I also like to ask these people if they know what propaganda is? They all seem to know something about it.

I then ask these disbelieving Americans, where do they get their information from? 9 out of 10 times, it is from Fox noise. I simply point out that they should find a new source for their news/propaganda.

This is it! It is finally here! Time for the election and to hell with all of the polls. The only real poll that matters is the real one taking place on Tuesday, November 4th.

I truly still have to hold my breath. I want the Democrats to take control of everything. I have that feeling like I have to cross my fingers, and do a special dance to make sure the superstitiousness within me is satisfied that I have done everything I could to make this happen. Perhaps it is some form of religion still within me that I have yet to reprogram.

Logically, I suspect by this time tomorrow, this thing will be wrapped up. Let the party start. Strike up the band. Que the Blue Angels that it is time for the fly over. Eight lousy years of republican rule will come to an end officially on January 20, 2009. That date marks the end of an error!

Now we are about to hear what Phil Gramm meant when he said that America was a bunch of whiners. Since he is a republican, he must have been talking about that red part of America which is going to be whining for the foreseeable future!

President Obama.....my my, it has a nice ring to it!

Comments in the last post talk about getting scammed. Sarah Palin got scammed yesterday by two talk radio host from Montreal.

If and when you hear the seven minute conversation, you will understand just how foolish she is and anyone following her is scammed too.

It is obvious from the call that she loves the French, doesn't know a thing about who is running Canada, her neighbor, and thinks the "documentary" about her life "Nailin Paling" is wonderful. Problem with the documentary is that it is a porno film by Hustler Magazine. She has bragged about her foreign policy and how well she gets along with the Canadians, but, doesn't know the name of the Prime Minister, or the Govenor of Quebec. And for a Republican to proclaim their love for the French Prime Minister, and the French people, is incredible.

Everything that the republicans are against, she just proclaimed her love for them. Nony's, you just got scammed!

Did you watch the Obama infomercial last night? Of course I did. Loved it.

What I liked most about it was that it set a high standard for the White House. Think about the recent past presidents, and try to picture any of them pulling it off. Perhaps Clinton, and maybe, just maybe Reagan, but, certainly not W or Daddy. Carter and Ford could only watch in envy at what Obama did last night. And don't even mention Nixon.

Furthermore, it raises the level of statesmanship to a whole new level. Those in politics now, will have to raise their game. With Obama in office the next president after him will have large shoes to fill. And the next president after Obama will continually be compared to him.

The petty politics that McCain and the republicans use will die off. Hopefully the idiots who follow them will do the same, or find a brain.

I suspect it will be awhile before we see a republican in the White House again.

I have been waiting for the Democrats to take control of government, and now, that control is in sight. Obama looks to be a possible landslide winner in the General Election, and the senate could possibly see 60 Democrats, for a filibuster proof senate. The House is safely in the Democrats hands. Perhaps things will finally start to get done with the American citizens in mind, and not the corporations. We will see.

On a lighter note, assuming McCain loses this election, he will be washed up as a politician. However, Sarah Palin seems to think that her star is rising! I just love that thought!

If the Republican party splits on how to proceed after this election, and Palin goes one way, and others take a different route, I think whoever follows Palin will be on the correct path. A path that is that will keep the Democrats in power for the next eight years. She has already been exposed as an idiot. (just look around the internet for proof.) There is nobody else that I would rather see Obama run against in 2012, than Palin. He would crush her! Just think, she would have to actually answer questions at a press conference. I am positive that they would make sure that during debates, there would be no notes allowed, like W and Kerry. All that she will be able to do is wink at the premature republican males in TV land, and help them have a good evening.

For the shallow thinking republicans, following Palin will be a simple thing to do. "Follow the Bimbo" will be the battle cry from me. They will be like little children on Christmas morning, all blinky eyed and happy that their new leader looks so good, and her "talkin" points sound "jez purrfect."

The coal in the stocking will be when Obama beats her in a bigger landslide than he is predicted to beat McCain in in ten days.

49ers fire Nolan - 'bout time.

Watching the 49ers every week on DirectTV down here in Florida has been dissappointing. Remembering back to the glory years, and watching this years edition is ridiculous.

I told CECA and my son-in-law (both Bills fans) that the 49ers should fire Nolan. I think they will be surprised that it actually happened.

Nolan just didn't seem to have a complete grasp of the finer aspects of the game. In a game of inches, he was giving away yards. The 49ers were always getting penalties at the worst possible time, and many times this happened. Times when Nolan should have thrown out the red flag, he didn't and times when he should not have thrown out the flag, he did. Many times, at home games, he looked more concerned about the suit he was wearing, than about the game.

Mike Singletary, famed linebacker with the Bears famous 46 defense on the 86 Bears SuperBowl shuffle champions, is taking over. I sure hope he does something about the defense. They have given up more points than any other team in the NFL.

I think the 49ers will win this coming week against the Seattle Seahawks. Look for a more disciplined defense, with lots of blitzes!

News should be facts only

The education level in this country has dropped over the past three decades. We used to lead the world in every educational category. Now there are a couple dozen countries who have passed us by in the education race.

For those out there who want to call me unpatriotic because of my opening paragraph, you prove my point!

I am looking at reality. You are looking at a distorted three-decade-old view of the educational playing field. You want to continue to believe that we lead the world in education, yet, the facts have changed. I hate to screw up your dreams with the facts, but, you need to wake up to this nightmare. If you can. Or do you prefer to just stick your head in the Fox-hole and not learn anything?

Watching this presidential cycle has shown me some alarming situations. Last week, at a McCain rally, a poor old lady in a red shirt took the microphone and told McCain that Obama was "an Arab." McCain corrected her, and said that he was not an Arab, but an American. McCain got booed by his audience for stating a fact. Unfortunately, for McCain, his audience, his supporters, didn't want to hear the facts. They wanted to stay in their dreamland of what America should be, instead of the reality that it has become over the past three decades.

If you need another example, I have only two words: Sarah Palin. Enough said.

This misinformation directed at the lesser educated has become an epidemic which needs to be addressed in this country. Yes, freedom of speech is one thing, but, somehow, the hate speech, and propaganda, masquarading as "breaking news" must somehow be curtailed.

As a news source, you should be allowed to report only facts, which can be backed up, with AT LEAST two sources, preferably not on deep back ground.

When I was in school, you had to give a bibliography with a research paper. You had to know how to find your sources and list them. However, the "main stream media" seems to have lost that art at the expense of ratings. "The hell with facts, get the ratings," seems to be the motto of each newsroom in the country. Sensationalizing the news does not do the country any good.

Once the "sensationalization" of the news started, the education level dropped off dramatically. No longer were people getting facts, but, propaganda, disguised as news.

And unfortunately, the lower educational level individuals out there, have been exploited by those in the know, to make them think that they are getting news, when in reality, they are getting screwed!

After seeing him on the TV, I had to believe that this is what Sackman, er, bagman, must be like. A bald-headed white trash wannabe. Talking about buying a business with no money. Is this why you had to sell your trailer trash properties recently, to buy a plumbing business? Certainly makes sense to me. No wonder you have time to check out this blog so often. You are always knee deep in shit, you don't know which way is up. You definitely have brown eyes!

Bagman, if you were a true American, you would payoff that tax lien against your trailer, er, home. Unfortunately, you are one of the teasonous idiots who thought he was going to get over on other poor people, and now you are stuck in the muck with them. You deserve it!

Six-pack Plumber Joe is for Obama

Why does McPalin think they know the average American like this.

When we checked with Joe, he said that Obama knocked on his door and talked to him about all of the issues. And Joe is voting for Obama.

Oh, by the way, Joe said that he got a call from some recorded message by McCain that was full of scrambled logic and came at 3:00 AM in the morning.

What McCain and Palin didn't say, was that they were trying to talk about Joe Biden!

Is there any wonder why Americans are fed up with the Republicans.

Give us the bailout - Surprise!

With all of these bailouts, why don't they just give the US taxpayer the dough. I mean, if they can find 700 Billion and another 140 Billion to save the financial institutions, and another 100 plus Billion for AIG, and untold Billions for the Fannie and Freddie, how about us, the actual US taxpayer.

When you add up all of that loot, over a TRILLION dollars, you could easily have paid off the majority of mortgages in America. The remainder of the mortgages could have been readjusted to a better mortgage rate.

There are just over 115 million housing "units" in the US. Had we taken that TRILLION dollars and paid $100,000 on every outstanding mortgage of a primary residence, we would have wiped out the majority of them, and been able to readjust the rest accordingly. If you figure $100,000 towards every mortgage in America, the "trickle down theory" could be shown to work. I say primary residence, because, those are the average taxpayers. If you have more than one mortgage, the ones after the first are probably investments, or summer/retirement (re:luxury) homes. Those would not be covered by this plan.

The US taxpayer would be able to spend on items that they enjoyed. They would have been able to give our economy the shot in the arm that it needs right now! We could change the tax structure to a sales tax structure instead of the property tax structure that we have now, and the rich hate. This type of tax structure would give the government the needed boost to do what it needs to do, and would help get the nation out of the 10 trillion dollar debt that it is in, much sooner than current predictions.

Had Bush figured this out a few weeks ago, McCain could be riding this move into the White House. However, the Republicans hate to think of doing anything for the average American. They are only interested in helping the top 1 percent of the population. As a result, they are trying to help the idiots on Wall Street who got us into this mess. America should stay with the capitalist system, and allow those Wall Street idiots to die on the vine.

People could afford $4 a gallon gas, higher energy bills, and new cars. This would revitalize the economy quickly. The month after this takes place, the money that taxpayers would have spend on the mortgage, they would be spending in the economy.

Talk about a win-win situation.

The republicans should be fearful, if Obama thinks of this solution. It could mean the end of the Republican party as we know it - forever.

Terrorist Palin and McCon

Palin abused her power as Governor just to harrass her former brother-in-law, and as a result, fired the exbrother-in-law's boss because he wouldn't fire him.

And then she lied about it. First saying that she welcomed the investigation, then saying she would not participate in the investigation.

But this news only hides the real news that it is Sarah Palin who has been pallin' around with terrorists, and not Obama!

Palin's husband, is a member of the Alaskan Independent Party. Earlier this year, Governor Palin sent a message to the AIP convention telling them to, "Keep up the good work." Their main goal is to succeed from the USA! If that is not the goal of a terrorist group, I don't know what it. And she wants to be a heart beat away from the Presidency of the USA!

Quite frankly, if you don't want to be in America, leave! However, Alaska is American property, so, perhaps you wouldn't mind heading across that maritime straight and live in Russia. I mean, what is the difference, you can see it from your house!

This just comes back on McCain again. He knew all about this BEFORE he picked her as a running mate on the GOP ticket. This is just further evidence that he picked her to win the election, not as the best person for the job. Not very wise judgement.

His view of the ecomony is goofy. His judgement on the economy is non-existant.

He feels that the surge is working. Well, lets see what happens when they remove the troops that are part of the surge. If the surge is working, the killings should increase, but, they won't! There is now proof that there was ethnic cleansing going on by the various Iraqi groups at the same time that the surge started. So, in reality, it was the ethnic cleansing that has caused the downturn in the killings, making the surge look good. However, if the troops were to be pulled out right now, the killings would not increase, and that would make the surge look stupid, which it was! Again, McCain is just repeating the Bush Republican talking points, and has no real judgement on the issue!

Bailout should trickle up

Instead of this bailout, I would have liked to see the Democrats put in place a stop gap measure to fill the void until after the next inauguration. Why should congress allow W's administration to saddled the next administration with this boondoggle; but, then, we are talking about W.

I would have preferred that the bailout funds been used for the infrastructure and small businesses of this great nation. Ms. Grey brings up a fine point that for the past so many years, people who should not have been getting loans, were getting them, and this was a major cause of the current problem. Included in that problem is the deregulation of the laws that allowed those loans.

All of the hard working people who should be able to get the same loans that they had more than four years ago, should still be able to do business. However, those rich bastards at the top of the financial food chain, the predator lenders, knew better, but still offered those loans to people who should have never gotten them, have screwed it up for regular hard working Americans.

So don't bail out those rich bastards, don't use the "trickle down theory" now. Get the money to the small businesses that need the money, and are the grease of the economy. One big idiot company or financial sector, in a true open market must fall from time to time otherwise, it is not a true open market.

I love the open market, and think that everyone should have the opportunity to become rich. If you are willing to take the risk, then you should enjoy the spoils. However, when you screw it all up, you blew it, and the government should not have to come and bail your ass out, just because you have a lot of lobbyists in Washington D.C. If you are a true capitalist, you see it this way, but, if you are a crybaby, spoil brat W supporter (read: jock strap), you are looking to blame someone else today, instead of looking in the mirror.

By the way, I do not think that those on Wall Street are as hard working everyday, as the small business owner on Main Street. They may do a couple of deals all year that brings in between 6 and 7 figures. This would seems pretty sweet to anyone. However, by no means is this equivalent to the small business owner who works 10-14 hours a day, six or seven days a week, just to make ends meet. Perhaps you can say that Wall Street people work smarter, instead of harder, but, I would say that if the small business person wasn't able to do his part, there would be no Wall Street.

So why are we giving this bailout to the ones at the top? They were the ones who screwed this all up in the first place.

Give the $700 Billion to the small business owners and let it trickle up! Wow what a concept!

The Republicans of course!

Finally, I believe the short sightedness of the Republicans is about to make them extinct. That is, of course, if Pelosi and Co. can pull the trigger.

What happened yesterday in Congress should be the final nail in the coffin for Reagan's "Trickle down theory of economics." As was stated somewhere yesterday amongst all of the talking heads, "the suffering has risen and smoothered the trickle down."

However, before I go further, I must say that Pelosi should have made doubly sure that she had the votes to pass that bill, and she did not. So, I must ask, did she not want it to pass? On purpose?

The House Republicans did not provide the votes that they said they had for the bailout bill. The vote failed. This started a free fall on Wall Street, which ended the day as the single biggest loss day in history, down 777 points.

The bill would have cost the taxpayers about 700 BILLION dollars over time, with the possibility of capturing some of that back when the assets bought by the bill returned to their former value and sold off. However, when the bill failed, and the stock market tanked, the value of the stock market went down 1.2 TRILLION dollars in a couple of hours!

Instead of worrying about paying for the bill with taxes at some later point, the taxpayers, mainly those with vast savings, ended up paying for this disaster immediately with no remedy in sight! When they look at their retirement accounts today, they will find that they have already lost on this deal. The short-sighted Republicans will end up paying for this fiasco in November. Realize this happened on the 29th of the month of September and at the end of the 3rd quarter. People will be viewing their financial statements within the next two weeks to see what has happened to their portfolios and savings and will find that they got screwed. At which point, they are going to look at the House Republicans who voted against this and blame them.

If Pelosi really wanted to pull the trigger, she should gather the Democrats up and produce a bill that gets us through the election and next inauguration. Make it a bill that all Democrats would vote for, and know that all republicans would vote against. She could exploit the deregulations put in place by the past republican congresses, and point to the fact that the republicans screwed up this deal, which has ultimately caused the Main Street taxpayer to suffer greatly.

Heaven help the Republicans if W vetoes it!

Obama would/is be pleased. Someone will still need to explain it to McCain.

If you read this clearly, yes, I am blaming Pelosi for suckering the Republicans into appearing to screw up this bill. Don't get me wrong, the Republicans appear to be happy about being the ones who voted against this bill and defeating it. They will have to pay for that in November.

Personally, this doesn't effect me yet. It will soon enough. I realize that as one of the little people out here in America, I was going to get screwed either way. But to all of those that it affected yesterday, just remember, you voted for that idiot twice! You have just gotten what you deserve. You are to blame! Ha Ha!

I am enjoying the Olympics. A wonderful event! I have loved it since the first time I saw them from Mexico City on TV.

I know there is a lot to blog about, what with the election coming up, the Olympics, and the NFL season, but...

I am going to have to slow down on these blogs...hehehe...slow down, I know it is not like I was doing a hell of a lot...

Got a FT job with bennies! Eight years without health insurance, I can't wait for my first physical!

The business is going fine, but, I am not sure how many more years it is going to support us, so, figured a few years ago to get something for the future...and now it has happened!

However, the first year they are going to own me. I am looking at 12 hour days for the next eight to ten months! Needless to say, I probably won't get many chances to blog for awhile!

Finally, I have started a diet. CECA and I went to a special weight loss doctor, (without insurance) to lose some of this weight! I have lost 15 pounds in the first (almost) two weeks. Planning on losing a lot, and getting healthy! Will update you next time!

For the record:
I am voting for Obama.
I still hope they impeach W and Cheney.
I will be rooting for the 49ers again this season. (BTW...I just purchased Direct TV's Sunday NFL Ticket, and I probably won't even be able to enjoy it now...oh well!)

This is a person who was AWOL while with the national guard in Alabama. ALABAMA! Nobody was shooting at him there. He founded a oil company that was going bankrupt until his daddy got some of his friends, the Saudi royal family to bail him out. He ran the Texas Ranger baseball team for awhile, and ran that into the ground also. Texas, when he was the governor went into debt from his policies.

So, now, with America on the brink of bankruptcy, don't ask me why this is happening. W has been doing this all his life. This time, he had the backing of the elite rich, and the mislead believers of the Xian right.

The elite rich never have the votes that they need to win just due to majority. However, the religious when added to the elite rich seem to pull out the victories at the ballot box...with a little help from the Supreme Court.

For all of you who thought that W was the next coming of cheese and rice, well, watch out for your house, because that is what they are coming for next. They don't need your vote anymore!

FISA Cave-in, or hidden agenda?

Today, the Senate will vote on a revision to the FISA law, which, on the surface will coverup all the illegal problems the current administration has with the warrantless wiretaps on Americans since 9/11.

Many in the progressive side of the blogoshere are calling this a cave-in by the Democrats to W. Why should W thought it even possible that the democrats would help him? Well, did they really?

OK, in the short run, yes. He will be off the hook until January 20, 2009. On that date he will no longer be president. Then he will be back on the hook. No more Pardoning power for his cronies either.

I am feeling better about the chances of Obama taking the White House in November. Unless it is stolen from him, I don't see him losing to McSame. So, when Obama takes over in January, what can he do with this new power? Hmmmm....lets see.

Spying on American citizens, who the government might see as a possible terrorist. What would be the definition of a terrorist? According to W, who got the bill passed, anyone who is against American interests. What could those interests be described as, in the terms of W's administration? Business interest! Now comes the fun part. What side of the business interest would the government take, the profit line interest, or the Uncle Sam tax line interest? I would hope the Uncle Sam tax line interest.

W has been for the business profit line interest all eight years he has been in office. Even the war in the middle east, as far as I am concerned, has always been about profits. Bush and his family have a long history of being war profiteers. Going back to WWI. Just think about Haliburton, Blackwater, and all of the nobid contracts that his administration gave out after Hurricane Katrina. Needless to say, as a result of W watching the profit line interest, meaning working with big business exclusively, this country is heading for a depression.

So when Obama takes office, he can spy on Big Business and W and his cronies. Should they say anything on the phone about some of the illegal stuff that they did, then, using this law, they could haul their ass into court and charge them with treason! I can only hope, can't I!

I had a nice quiet 4th

We sat around and watched movies. A four-star suspense/drama that kept me on the edge of my seat was "Vantage Point." It came out on DVD earlier this week. I had wanted to see this movie in the theater, but, missed it. So a couple of days ago, I got it, and we watched it yesterday. I was literally on the edge of my seat the entire movie. I won't say anything about it, except, I have to watch it again today! It is that good! My stomach was in knots when I finished watching that one.

In the evening, I was channel surfing and found "Rear Window" right at the beginning. I figured, what the hell, I already know the "Law and Order" episode that was on the marathon, so, we watched that one. I enjoyed that one all over again, as if it was the first time I saw it.

We were going to call it an evening at that point, but, the next movie on the channel was an old favorite of mine, "The Music Man." CECA had never seen it - I was surprised. I told her that she needed to at least watch the first scene, so she did. We ended up watching the whole thing. I don't know what it is about that movie, but, it always gets to me.

In my high school days, my high school produced that play as a way of introducing their new band. My memories go back to that time, and the feeling of that play, and watching the movie, and the 4th of July fireworks in the background out of the window, made for a sentimental evening.

Three movies, some pop corn, a beer, = a nice quiet 4th with my sweetie.

If anything, there will be even more arguements about this issue. It is really too bad. In this year of the Big Election, this issue should not have become such a lightning rod, yet, it will! In this year of the the Big Issue, being the economy, this is just another distraction issue which the right will use to lead astray the feeble minded at the ballot box. This is an issue like abortion, family values, and gay marriage. None of those things have anything to do with running the country!

No more sugar industry lobbying to mess up the flow of water for the Everglades.

Interesting article online today about the Mayors of LA, Oakland, & Seattle, complaining that some of the local businesses were being raided due to illegal immigrants working at those companies.

It seems like there are a few different things going on here. First, why the "west" coast. Could it be that the west coast is leaning "Blue" in the upcoming election? Second, why haven't they been doing this all along, since W took office? If they had, there are plenty of Americans who would take these jobs. Finally, I think the mayors misspoke in the article:

"We've never taken the position that you shouldn't enforce the law," Villaraigosa says. "What we've said is, in a time of limited resources, we should prioritize our enforcement. At a time when we don't have the resources to go after criminals, we're going after legitimate businesses and workers instead. That doesn't make sense." Villaraigosa is the Mayor of LA.

Notice the code of "prioritize our enforcement." What the hell does that mean? Only certain businesses or crimes? I find the priorities perfectly fine. Cheating on payroll taxes, not hiring tax paying Americans, avoiding the minimum wage are all horrible crimes and all much costlier than a burglar or mugger. This does more damage to the common good than an isolated violent crime.

My feelings on this are clear: No employers should be hiring illegal aliens for employment of any type. Bust the employers. As for the workers, workers do what workers have to do to get by in this ecomony. It is the employers who damage the economy the most by not partaking fairly in their share of the taxes, while at the same time, attempting to maximize the profits. It is the equivalent to skimming off the top or cherry-picking.

For those crazy conservatives who claim that at least the employers are hiring people, or providing jobs, you miss my point. I am glad that they have jobs to offer. However, they hire illegals to avoid paying their fair share of the tax burden of doing business. They need to be punished.

If the mob was running this country, those employers would be swimming with the fishes by now!

Supreme Court ruled today 5-4, that the detention of the "enemy combatants" is wrong, and that the "prisoners" have the right to have their cases heard in federal courts!

Some of these individuals have been waiting more than six years.

Just another case of when W lies, people get hurt or die. Where is the definition of "is" when you need it? I would much rather hear lies from Bill about Monica, that are attempts to save Hillary's feelings, than lies from W which make young men die, and put dollars in W's pocket!

Yesterday brought the worst news I have ever had to hear!

About 11:30 am, my time, I got a call from my parents in California. My sister, whom I grew up with, had been in a fire. They told me that she had been burned over 57% of her body. The firemen found her, and rushed her to the hospital. She was in ICU, and in bad condition.

The call lasted only about five minutes, but, as we hung up, I felt the tears welling up, and that uncontrollable feeling to cry. I knew this was not going to be good.

Son came home a few minutes later, he had been out with his friends. I had made my way to the kitchen, where he found me. He looked at me and I guess the expression on my face scared him. He rushed over to me, hugged me, and asked what was wrong. I explained to him what had happened to his aunt. Talking about it comforted both of us after the tears subsided.

The rest of the day, was awkward. Here I am 3000 miles away. Not being able to do a damn thing. I started thinking about thousands of different things. What to if.... I remember the time when... I wonder whatever happened when.... The flood of emotions came back again and again throughout the day.

I finally realized that should the worst happen, I needed to be able to be ready to make a very long journey.

I am currently teaching classes for the remainder of the school year. I needed to prepare lesson plans for the remainder of the semester. I prepared a final exam for the seniors, which was a large accomplishment. I still have to prepare a final for the sophmores and juniors.

I began teaching this group of students a little less than a month ago. I have been able to get them on the right track. I have given them tests, which they have been struggling with, and Friday, was another testing day. I had to grade those test. It was a pleasant surprise to see almost 40% of the students get perfect scores!

All of that took up about four hours.

We watched the Kentucky Derby. I cried again when Eight Bells had to be put down after coming in second place. Wife and I had been routing for her. The emotion of the day was taking its toll.

We prepared dinner, but, it seems like it was one of those meals that you eat but don't really taste. (Honey, the potato salad and burgers were wonderful, I am sure, but, my taste buds were on holiday.)

It was about 9pm, when my wife and I decided to take a swim in the pool. It is starting to warm up here in Florida, summer is just around the corner. We haven't had rain in about a month and a half, so, the clouds overhead didn't phase us, we jumped in.

We were not in the pool for more than about 10 minutes when I started to feel raindrops. Soft little ones at first, the kind you have to do a double take with, to make sure you are feeling raindrops. My thoughts returned to my sister. I felt this was a sign. As the thought bounced about in my head, the rain became much harder. I didn't say anything, hoping against hope, that this was not the omen of bad news.

Wife suggested that we get out of the pool due to the rain. Usually, I would argue with her to stay, hell, we are already in the pool, how much more wet could we get. This night I was the first one out of the pool and toweled off.

No sooner had I changed out of my suit, when the phone rang. My parents had told me that they were going to go to the hospital to see my sister about 5pm on the west coast, that would be 8pm, my time. They told me that they would call me and give me an update on her condition. I raced to the phone, but it was three rings away from me, and by the time I picked it up, there was no connection. I immediately hit the redial button, only to get the answering system on my dad's cell phone.

I went into my office to retrieve my mom's cell phone number, wife followed me into the office. As I dialed, Son came walking into the office, and handed me the phone from his room. It was my younger brother, who was also at the hospital.

"Hello."

"She's gone, her lungs gave out. She passed about five minutes ago."

SHOCK! Yes! Stunned, certainly. The tears were instant. Yet, I knew already, didn't I. Brother and I hung up. Wife and son and I had a group hug and cried together.

The next half hour was a mixture of emotions, which I have never experienced before. I have never known anybody close who has passed away. There are no words to print to describe those horrible feelings of such great loss. I have never known the wave after wave of emotion that sweeps over you during such an ominous day.

I have always worried, as a parent, about my Son. My thoughts turned to my parents, and I tried to call them again. I have still not heard from them. I am sure that I will. However, I feel so sad for them now. Parents should not have to bury their children.

About midnight, my time, Son and I decided to go for one of our midnight walks. It gives us time to talk one on one, and express our feelings openly. We talked about his aunt, my sister. Again we cried, as the emotions overcame us at various moments during the walk. As we made the final turn for home, the rain started again. I shared with Son, my thoughts of the rain earlier in the pool just before that phone call from brother.

I mentioned that this rain was his Aunt! He mentioned how the raindrops look like they were dancing in the puddles as they fell, and I mentioned to him, which he didn't know, that his Aunt loved to dance! As every raindrop fell and touched us, we knew it was soft kisses from her. As the amount of rain increased, we said it was Auntie hugging us, and embracing us.

As we got in front of the house, the sky opened and just poured on us. We walked another block and back in the downpour of Auntie.

We realized that when she passed, everyone was at her side, but us down here in Florida. When she passed, she was able to be with us all at one time.

She was, er, is!

Sorry for the bad news, but I have to cry again.

I don't think McCann is going to change shit. So, I won't vote for him. He is part of the good ole boy network, that doesn't help anybody but themselves.

I think this country needs a lot of things changed.
We need to realize that the rich are continually dividing and conquering the middle and lower classes.
We need to learn logic to understand what is truly fair and balanced reporting of the news.
We need to bring back jobs from overseas.
We need to stop letting rich/lobbyists write our laws.
Perhaps closing the borders will be a good thing.
The Supreme Court is going to finally make a new ruling on the 2nd Amendment. Unfortunately, this won't change any of the argueing about the 2nd Amendment.
This scenario goes for the abortion issue also.
I think the biggest change we should make in this country would be the following:
Amendment to the constitution to disallow corporations as citizens in this country.
Finally, the Giants suck without Bonds!

Hello - Yes, I am still here :)

I have been just way too busy the past couple of months. Being a Husband and Dad first and foremost. Teaching, coaching soccer, was sicker than a dog during holiday break. More teaching. Testing, students that is!

Lots of stuff has happened politically in the past couple of months. Florida had its primary, early. State legislature, run by the Republicans, end up screwing up the Democratic primary, and convention this coming summer. I voted touch screen down here, with no print out - again! Stupidest thing I have ever seen.

Looks like McCann has the Republican nomination. Too bad for Rush and all of the other"conservative" talk host. They don't like him. I believe Rush said he will vote for the Democrat if McCann gets the nomination. Oh boy, I want to see that one!

Here in Florida, we are so backward ....They are still debating evolution in the science books due to the religion idiots who want creationism on equal footing as evolution. When are these people going to come into the 20th century. That debate was over in the 1930s. We are in the 21st century and they still can't understand it...too bad...soo sad. I think all they have to do is equate ministers with snake oil salesmen, and I think we could move along quickly!

Hats off to the NY Giants! Loved the fact that the cheating Patriots got theirs! I hope they find out that the Patriots have been cheating for years, and remove all of their Super Titles!

Way to go Roger Clemens. You make Barry Bonds look gentlemanly! To all of you out there who were snowed by the media against Bonds, I hope you can stomach that Clemens is in the same boat. My final word on the matter is still that the Baseball administration under Selig has known about this for years. They are the ones who should be sent packing! And shame on Congress for making such a spectacle out of this when our country is turning into a third world country. Don't they have better things to do....like impeach that asshole yesterday!

The holidays are here...really

In Southern Florida, the holidays have a completely different feeling than they do up north. Instead of worrying about snow, we have to worry about the temperature of our pools dropping below 80 degrees. I turned off my heat pump just before Thanksgiving and don't plan on swimming until some time in February.

When you go shopping down here, instead of parkas and boots, people are in T-shirts, shorts and sandals. Seeing that much skin when you are shopping in the "giving" spirit just seems odd. Makes you want to get them a parka and boots.

Almost all of the holiday shopping is done. It has been a lean year, so, the "pile" under the tree this year will be more of a lump, and the stockings won't need more than one thumbtack to hold them up. All of the presents going out to the grandkids this year can fit in one box. At least I won't mind the shipping charges this year.

We have been invited to one party this year, which already occurred, and we attended. So, we have about 2/3rds of the party season left, and nowhere to go.

On the brighter side, .... I finally got a large screen TV. Found a great online sale during the Thanksgiving weekend, and had it delivered the following week. DVDs look great on it!

Let the popcorn and movie parties begin.... :)

High Court to hear 2nd Amendment

It has been interesting discussing this issue with Lex and Sadie, and others.

Let me state, for the record, that regardless of how the Supreme Court rules on this issue, it will continue to remain a hot topic, after whatever judgement comes down from on high.

My position (without looking back at the numerous posts and discussions on Lex's blog, or mine)
is still the same. I believe that the 2nd Amendment gives me the right to bear arms. No, I am not a part of any militia. No, I do not own a gun. I believe the 2nd Amendment gives the people the right to protect themselves from ANY government, including our own, by bearing arms. I don't believe I need to own a gun and that is my choice. However, I don't wish to remove that choice from my fellow countrymen!

This case will be heard sometime next year, with a decision probably handed down at the end of the term. Whichever way the decision comes down, it is sure to be an election issue for the next presidential election, in less than a year.

So now the fun part. If Hillary (or your favorite candidate) is for choice of gun ownership, and the Supreme Court comes down and bans gun ownership, will the NRA endorse Hillary (or your favorite candidate)? Will Pro-Choice or Pro-Life groups support Hillary?

Time will tell? This will only get more interesting as the days go by.

Veterans Day - a day late

Don't you hate it when the holiday you are celebrating falls on a day that is not the actual anniversary of something!?

Yesterday was Veteran's Day, or historically, Armistice Day, celebrating the end of WWI on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of the year, in 1918. Yet, today, most places like banks and post offices, and government offices are closed "in honor of" Veterans Day.

Our town held a Veteran's Day Parade, on Saturday. A day early. Around here, there is a large veteran's community, so, the event turned into a huge weekend party, starting on Friday!

How would you like to be George Washington, Abe Lincoln, or Martin Luther King, Jr., who have their birthdays celebrated in January and February. At least they try to get King's Day near his birthday, of January 15. However, no slight to King, but, I feel Washington and Lincoln seem a bit more important, yet, we have combined their birthdays together, and now call it "President's Day." And it is between their birthdays, and not on either one! YUK Many school systems have decided to take a mid-winter week off, between the actual birthdays. Hmmm, starting to sound paganistic.

When they change Easter back to the Futility Cult Rituals, let me know.

Busy teaching

I think the Nonnies are truly sad that New Orleans was hit by Katrina. The French Quarter will never be the same, and as a result, the Nonnies will have to find a new place to get girls to "Show me the beads" for a cheap flash. Perhaps they will sign up for the latest "Girls Gone Wild" video. Nah, two much mullah, and the content is over their heads! Someone would have to explain it to them - more than once!

New Party?

Watching the Democrats suck up to the Republicans the past couple of weeks, has been disgusting! The Democrats have the majority. They have the public on their side! They have the numbers on their side to demand things, yet, they are acting like the minority party while the Republicans, act like the majority with their demands. I have to hand it to the Republicans, as Sackman would say, they have Sack and the Dems don't! And for the life of me I have been trying to figure it out!

Call me slow but, what if...

Being that Corporate America seems to run the beltway, and the fact that they own everything, it seems obvious that they own the Democrats. Whoever devised this plan was a genius. Get your way with one party, the Republicans, by using the other party as your flunky! When the flunkies get into office, hold enough blackmail material on them, to keep them in check, so that your team can still win, even without the popular vote.

Our traditional system of government has usually had only two parties. It is easy for Corporate America to infiltrate both sides. The sneaky part is making them appear to be against each other, when in reality, you hold the puppet strings to both!

So, even though the American public demand and expect the Democrats to behave in a manner befitting the trust with which we voted them into office last year, Corporate America still gets its way. How sad is that!

Perhaps it is time to join another party that is against Corporate America! Not the Dems or the Reps. Realizing they are two sides of the same coin, sucks, but, that is reality! For now, I have to decide weather to stay with the Dems, give them support, in an effort to help them build a backbone against the Busheviks, or dump them like the sniveling wannabe corporate puppets that they are right now.

Stay tuned! Yes, I am pissed at the Dems right now!

Separation of Corporations and State

Perhaps I should have written this post long ago...

I believe in the separation of church and state, so, separating the corporations out from the state is the next logical conclusion.

Historically, the church has acted like a corporation. Hidden behind a smoke screen of religion, the church has always been about wealth building! Preist originally were allowed to be married. The church didn't like the fact that when a preist died, they left the church building to their next of kin in their will. The church wanted the property, so, about the year 1000, the church forbid preist from marrying. This left no heirs for the preist, and within a generation, the church collected all of the church properties in Europe! Simple wealth building!

Corporation have one basic goal. Wealth! Sound familiar? Profits for the shareholders! They hide behind the delusion that they are helping the community by providing jobs, but, don't be fooled by that Madison Avenue bullshit. If they don't make profits, they lay off people or outsource the work to China to make profits. People are a tool to corporations.

Historically, the rich held sway in the kingdom. They were the "noble" class. First Class on the Titanic, if you will. They provided jobs and housing to the lower classes, in return for working on the estate (farms.) When the Black Plague hit Europe in the middle ages, and the population dropped drastically, the common people who survived were able to negotiate better living conditions.

Now-a-days, the corporate right wingnuts wish to outlaw the abortion issue. The more people, the more replacements, in business, as well as in war! A vatican cardinal is on record recently, as saying they are against abortion, because they want a large population to fight a holy war with the Muslims. And you thought the Crusades were over! HA!

Our forefathers understood the separation of Church and State better than the current generation because of what they had gone through in dealing the the King of England. We are now dealing with the equivalent in the current form of corporations.

It is time to separate the corporations from the state! If not, we might as well be called the United Corporations of America. The constitution doesn't say, "We the Corporations...," it says, "We the people!" It is time for the people to put the corporations in their place!

Some thoughts about AA and Cancer

Perhaps this isn't the place, but...

The other day, Sadie mentioned an AA meeting in her blog. This is not meant to be disrespectful to those who attend or have attended AA, but...

I notice when I run into someone from AA, they introduce themselves as "recovering!" Even if they haven't had a drink in more than 10 or 20 years they are still "recovering!" However, when I meet someone who survived a cancer scare, they don't introduce themselves as "recovering" but, as recovered! Former cancer patients also tend to have a sense of accomplishment in having kicked cancers' ass. A victorious smugness, if you will. However, I never get this feeling from the group coming from the AA meetings.

I touch on this subject because both Alcoholism and Cancer are considered diseases! Some diseases are treatable and some are not.

My personal feeling is that AA groups have some ingrown co-dependancy built into their teachings. I feel this is unfortunate! If you are "recovering," when will you be totally recovered? They tend to feel this is impossible for some reason. If this is the case, then you are not recovering, but, coping! If you are coping, you have lost your sense of hoping! To cope is to accept what life has dumped on you. You have become a victim of life and you are accepting it!

This victim image is not found in the cancer patient wing of the hospital. You don't find Cancer Patients Anonymous anywhere?

One final thought on this matter...

There is the famous 12 step program, that is the backbone of the AA meetings. The very first step is stated something like: "We admit we are powerless over alcohol — that our lives have become unmanageable." Thereafter, other steps touch on religious dogma to control the member of AA into thinking that they can never escape the grasp of alcohol. This, I find, to be a sad situation! Typical of an organization runs with religious dogma in the background!

Therefore, should the cancer patients start an organization to mimic the 12 step program, so that if cancer comes back during their lifetime, they can be humbled by the 12 step program, or...should AA members learn how to recover from indulging in alcohol and lead successful lives like former cancer patients?

Just wondering!

Heat lightning is awesome!

About an hour ago, Son was taking out the garbage for pickup in the AM. He came in and told me that the heat lightning was awesome tonight!

We just came in after watching it for almost an hour. We were surrounded by heat lightning! 360 degrees of Nature's best Strobe light! Practically nonstop the whole time.

During the spectacular show, I got that sense of awe and peacefulness. Growing up in San Fran, we never got to experience this type of weather. As a matter of fact, when I got here seven years ago, I didn't know what heat lightning was, or what caused it.

I am still not exactly sure of the exact reasons, but, it seems to me that heat lightning never touches the ground. It just shoots horizontal across the sky lighting up the sky! Because it doesn't touch down, there is no real thunder involved. You hear the sky sizzle, and a few crackles, but, no thunder.

I have been away from the puter for a couple of days, getting ready for the beginning of the school year! Son had to get a haircut. No prob. I could have used the lawnmower this year, and completely missed his ears! Then he needed new clothes! This was not as easy as I thought it was going to be...

Son and his girlfriend broke up about 10 days ago after over a year together. So getting clothes this year meant Son wanted to look really good. Almost $500 bucks later, he had 8 new shirts, 4 new pairs of pants, 2 new pairs of shoes, new underwear, and a new Adidas bag to carry all of his stuff in. Also some new colonge! Yes, he will look "hot" for the girls!

Saturday, he had to show up and get his schedule, and find out where his locker is located. His old girlfriend was there, and she seems to be taking the breakup hard. Today, while we were out getting school supplies, she called him 8 times. YUK! He finally turned off the phone.

Ah, young love, er....nevermind! Let the school year begin!

Who will I vote for, er, who I won't vote for

I know it is about 15 months early, but, it was on my mind.

At the current time, nobody on the Dem side of the debates has stood out to me. Hillary is CECAs pick already. She is staying with the woman to the end. She probably will win. However, I have my reservations about Hillary. She just seems too much like the past 27 years of presidents!

Obama, I think is very well spoken, yet, I am not sure he has the experience for the job. I have to say the same about Edwards.

I do like Richardson, Gov of NM, and Biden, Sen from NJ, but, I haven't been persuaded completely by them. So, I am still listening to the speeches, and trying to decide!

On the other hand, the Reps have something new! They actually have a race. I am not saying the Republicans will keep the White House in '08, but, the race amongst the Reps is interesting. I don't see a snake in the field yet, like George W. in 2000, although, I am sure there is one out there in hiding.

With the resignation of Karl Rove yesterday, effective at the end of this month, it will be interesting to see who he catches on with in the run for the '08 white house. Whoever he latches onto, I won't vote for!

I just finishing commenting to Lex. I had just posted, and Barry came up and send it to deep center field in front of his hometown fans!

That was AWESOME.

The game is still stopped, and they are giving Bonds a special tribute. Willie Mays is presenting, and they have a special announcement from Hank Aaron!

Now Barry is thanking the crowd, his teammates, his family, kids, the Washington Nationals and finally, with a bit of emotion, his dad, Bobby!

On the replay, Bonds knew as soon as he hit it, as he watched it, he raised his hands over his head.

I am thankful that I stayed up so late to watch it! What a moment!

MLB Steroid "policy" a joke!

Lex made a comment about my last post. I was going to answer in the comments but realized that the issue needs a post of its own. So, without further ado...

I will admit right out, that I believe that Barry Bonds has taken steroids. That I am not arguing about. My problem with this scenario is why is society so disgusted with Bonds and not at MLB?! Could it be the "Liberal Media" has lead us on a wild goose chase?

First, some information....

"The Anabolic Steroids Control Act of 1990 became law on November 29, 1990, when former President Bush signed the Omnibus Crime Control Bill. The law applies in every Federal court across the country. It places steroids in the same legal class - Schedule III -- as barbiturates, LSD precursors, veterinary tranquilizers like ketamine and narcotic painkillers like Vicodin. Simple possession of any Schedule III substance is a federal offense punishable by up to one year in prison and/or a minimum fine of $1,000." This is from Bodybuilding.com.

"In 1998, after an article written by Associated Press writer Steve Wilstein[1], McGwire admitted to taking androstenedione, an over-the-counter muscle enhancement product. While legal for use in MLB, it had been banned by the NFL and IOC." This is from Wikipedia, regarding Mark McGwire

I would like to add here, that Major League Baseball stiffened their steroid "policy" in January 2005, which occurred at the same time as the Controlled Substance Act. The fact that MLB finally put in place a steroid policy with some teeth, in 2005 is ridiculous. But, lets look further at the timing.

November 2004, W got reelected. January, 2005, W is re-inaugurated. Not sure if any of you realized that the steroid scandal in baseball is a smokescreen, to divert the publics attention from what W is getting away with in Washington D.C. It was also an attempt by the Do Nothing Congress run by the Republicans to redirect your attention away from them taking off three out of five days every week, during their stay in office.

Why didn't the media jump on the MLB steroid scandal at that point? Why not back when steroids were found in McGwire's locker. Oh, wait, they were "allowed" in baseball at that time. Although illegal in society, MLB didn't outlaw them, instead, MLB just looked the other way. Heck, McGwire was about to break the season record for home runs in a season, and baseball didn't want a black cloud over that possibility back in 1998. Heck, McGwire was selling out stadiums everyday, with people wanting to watch him hit home runs. McGwires assault that year was good for media sales also! Also, they were involved in finding out every nasty detail of the Monica Lewinski/Bill Clinton affair/impeachment.

Now jump to the present. The last 23 games that Bonds has played in have been sold out, home and away. He is currently tied with Aaron for the home run record. He will break it any day now. By the way, Bonds broke McGwires single season record for home runs in 2001. That would be four years before MLB instituded their steroid "policy"! Since 2005, Bonds has not tested positive for steroids. His "connection", BALCO, makers of "The Cream" and "The Clear" have been out of business, indicted, and jailed. The media attention that Bonds has received due to the scandal has been like flies on shit. They don't want to ask W any real questions, and would prefer to look somewhere else, than at a scandal in the White House.

Another thing about this MLB Steroid era is I don't believe that only Bonds, McGwire, Giambi, or Canseco have been doing 'roids. According to Canseco's book "Juiced" he states that about 85% of all baseball players are doing some sort of performance-enhancing drug. I tend to think that is a bit high, but, probably not far off the mark. And I think that the powers that run MLB knew that also, and decided it was good for profits, er, baseball. If you take that into consideration, then, some pitchers have taken steroids also. Yet, the home run record fell twice within three years.

Baseball has also built more than a half dozen new ball parks in the last decade. All but one is considered a home-run type of ball park. So, yes, the total of home runs has gone up. However, the one park that has given up the least amount of home runs for the past few years, is AT&T park in...San Francisco. Home of Barry Bonds.

So, do I think that Bonds took steroids some years back, yes. However, I do not think that he is taking them now due to the fact that he has not tested positive since the league "policy" went into effect. Oh, in that new policy, Bonds gets tested randomly throughout the season. He doesn't know when he is going to be tested! Yet, he is still hitting home runs in a pitcher friendly ballpark. That tells me that he is still a great home run hitter!

I could go on, but, enough for today! :)

Bonds ties Aaron

Saturday night, just as Son and I were about to shut down the computer games and head to sleep, Son checked the headlines, and saw that Barry Bonds had tied Hank Aaron as the home run king of baseball. We watched to replays on the internet. We cheered. Son saw his previous home run in San Francisco, a week ago.

Since then, I have read many accounts by people that think Bonds' accomplishment should have an "*" next to it due to steroid use.

Quite frankly, until he tests positive for steroids, I will honor Bonds as the Home Run king. Bonds has never tested positive for steroids. Period! Yes, there has been lots of talk in the media, and he testified in front of the grand jury, and others testified against him in a grand jury, but, he has never tested positive for steroids! You can say all you want to a grand jury, or jury or judge, but, the fact is, he has never tested positive. Case closed!

Furthermore, the powers that run Baseball as a business, didn't put any types of measures in place against steroids until only a few years ago. A lot of people forget that baseball had a strike back in 1994. Many fans vowed never to go to another game. When Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa started hitting home runs soon after that, and got the fans interested in baseball, nobody from the powers that run Baseball said a word about steroid use. They were happy that the fans were in the seats and the profits were going up!

Perhaps they should have two leagues, MLB and MSB. Which would stand for: Major Legal Baseball and Major Steroid Baseball. Geez, I wonder which one would be more fun to watch?!!

Bill Walsh - My Hero

Late last night, sometime after 11:00pm (EST), I got the news that Bill Walsh had died. I was stunned. I couldn't believe it.

Moving to Florida seven years ago, I was out of the loop of those who were aware of the condition of Bill Walsh. He died of Leukemia yesterday.

I sat at my computer, frozen, thinking about Bill Walsh. A great sadness came over me. My hero was gone!

Of all the people in my life who I didn't know, Bill Walsh has had the greatest influence. I have probably read more about him, than any other current day individual. Yes, historically, I have read tons about various presidents, and great leaders throughout history. However, current day people, Bill Walsh takes the cake!

As a teenager, I first noticed Bill Walsh, through the local Bay Area media, when he was coaching Stanford, prior to coming to the 49ers. The 49ers sucked at the time, and there was no relief in sight. The year before he came to the 49ers, they were 2-14, and easily the worst team in the NFL. However, the first year that Walsh coached the 49ers, they were also, 2-14. However, I could tell that they were a much improved team. They were not getting blown out of games by so-so teams anymore. They were staying in games until the end. It was encouraging. The next year, they started 3-0, and people were wondering, "How the hell did that happen?"

I remember my old girlfriend's father, teasing me about following the 49ers. He kept trying to shield me from their disappointing performances on the field. That same year, I was at my girlfriend's house, listening to the game on the radio, (the 49ers didn't sell out back then, and the games weren't on TV.) The New Orleans Saints were leading the 49ers 35-7 at halftime. I told old girlfriends dad that the 49ers could come back, and he just laughed at me. In the greatest comeback in NFL history (at that time) the 49ers beat the Saints that day, 38-35! I was thrilled! That day I became a huge Bill Walsh fan.

I admired him for the way he approached a task. He never seemed to do the conventional wisdom, and his own personal wisdom was so much better than the conventional wisdom, that when the two competed, Walsh's wisdom won with a slam dunk. West Coast offense. Light practices. Water during training camp. Road trips were "business trips!" Us against the world philosophy. And his attention to detail was huge!

I could go on and on, but, lets just say, that I lost my hero, and I am sad today!

Everything is fine with the business...we are back online, and running smoothly! Yes, that was a big sigh of relief you heard from me!

Son is on his way home right now...he just called me from the plane...he was buckled in and preparing for takeoff...should be in the air any minute! He went to the Giants/Marlins game last night at AT&T Park. Saw Bonds hit his 754 home run. Bonds is now one homer away from Aaron!

With all of the emergencies around here this summer, I have not been posting on politics lately...just haven't had much time to keep up. However...

I am disappointed with the Dems. I thought for sure, by now, they would have filed for impeachment! ITMFN!

I am fed up with the MSM lack of reporting! With Murdock purchasing the WSJ, I think another pillar of journalistic excellence is about to become a slock propaganda rag!

I find it sad in a democracy, that when a president wins with just more than 51% of the vote, he thinks he has political capital that he decides to "spend"! However, now, that his popularity is in the 20 percentile, he is still spending our $!

Stop him!

Dog Days of Summer

Was going to post on the Dem Debate from the other night, but...

Power company showed up to change the pole early. I ran around setting up all of the generator connections. Unfortunately, the generator was not regulating correctly, sending power surges. Not Good. It blew out a power supply on the dictation system. Very Bad.

Called the manufacturer in Tampa. They didn't have anybody who they could send down yesterday, so, I packed up the system, and drove it up there! What a pain!

Got there about 1:30pm...They put the system on the "operating table" and started to figure out what had gone wrong. I had told them about the generator on the phone, so, they had an idea. They found the power supply was shot, and replaced it. Then they found something scary. One of the double redundant drives had been down for a couple of years! They repaced it, and got everything done in about two hours! They even reset the array! Which, I am not sure, but, seemed like a very important thing to the techies! So, I am glad!

They told me that I need to replace the other drive soon, as, those types of drives usually, go out in cycles, and the other one, is over due!

When I got home last night, I started to hook up the dictation system, when I almost had a heart attack! The key on the front of the computer was missing. I had drove all the way home without the key to open the front of the computer and turn it on! YUK! I started yelling! I was at the end of my rope! CECA came into the room. She looked on the floor, and said, "Is that the key under the system rack?" I looked, and sure enough, there it was! It had fallen out when I started to reattach it to the network. From the angle that I was working, I couldn't see under the rack.

We got the system up and running...but...one more glitch popped up. When the techies were working on the system, they had to download all of the information at the first chance they had, just in case, the system was a goner! It wasn't! To do that, they changed something called "the paths." This is something the network uses to know where to send information. The information from the dictation system used to go to the server, but, now, it was stuck trying to offload the work, which doesn't help us at all now!

First call this AM is to the techies at the manufacturer to fix the paths! Good Grief!

When they call back, things should be getting back in order!

The Beckham era has started

David Beckham finally played for the LA Galaxy tonight. The Galaxy played Chelsea FC, from the EPL (English Premier League) and lost 1-0.

Due to an ankle injury from over a month ago, Beckham was only able to play for about 15 minutes at the end of the game.

I remember when Pele started playing with the New York Cosmos back in the early 70s, we all thought at that time, that soccer, er, futbol, as they call outside of the US, would catch on, and become another major sport in the USA. Unfortunately, that didn't happen then.

Hopefully, it will happen now! I certainly hope so!

Energy company is just plain goofy!

A couple of weeks ago, our backyard neighbors informed us that the local energy company was coming out to replace the pole in the backyard. Said pole sits in the middle of three yards and provides power to four homes. Said pole has a transformer on top also.

A few years ago, during all of the hurricanes, the transformer had to be replaced three times. Energy company had to turn off the power while replacing the transformer. The first time was due to the hurricane. The second time was because they didn't trim a large tree in my backyard that I had requested trimming on. The tree had grown right under and up into the lines. We had noticed sparks from arcing, but the energy company didn't think it was a big deal. Until the hurricanes! After the original fix, the tree crossed two lines and shorted out the new transformer...so...they trimmed the tree, and replaced the transformer again that year.

Not only were we out of power for a week due to the hurricane, but, then we were out of power during the days when they had to replace the transformer, and trim the tree. Good thing I have a generator to run the business!

Back to the present.

That same tree has grown again...surprise, surprise! I have a work order in with the energy company, who now agree that that type of tree needs to be removed from under the lines. They are going to remove it at no cost to me - Yippee! However, they have until October 1st to do the work! No date has actually been set!

The pole which is, was going to be replaced today (they just came to the door and rescheduled for Tuesday) has a problem with that tree being in the lines again! You would think that they would get the trimmers out here first...but...that is the local energy company.

I am so glad that I have a generator to run the business !!!

Last month, the server crashed. Techie guy had a fix it disk, and saved our ass! We ordered a new one, and got the quote from the techie guy to install it! He figured about four hours, and he had a backup program to install...quote = $1500 or thereabouts!

Well, it took him about 18 hours, and the final was about $2800. Fried my ass!

After thinking about it for a few days, I suppose it could have been much worse. He did save us last month! And the reason it took so long to install this time, was the last techie group that we had, never left the passwords for the old server or fire wall anywhere! When we called them, they could care less! So, new techie guy had to do everything from scratch....and of course, we had to pay! I still think that 18 hours to set up a server, and three work stations is a bit much, but...hell, I just own the shit, I don't know how to put it together! Kinda like my car!

Oh well, looks like the nonnies are gone for good, and good thing...

Had a great 4th...stayed home and had friends over. However, I got bitten by something not very nice, and by Friday, my left eye was almost swollen shut. Went to the MD. She gave me something to take away the itchies, and the swelling! I have four more days of medication! Whatever it is, it keeps me awake!

Son will be home in 3 weeks :)

I noticed that W let Libby off of the hook. Surprise! Surprise! He was paying off Cheney's boy for being loyal. Not for protecting the Constitution of the United States, like they swore an oath, but for being a loyal Bushie! He was caught lying and convicted! Caught lying and convicted of covering up the outing of Valerie Plame. Which tells me that, Yes, the White House was in on the alledged "outing" from the beginning. So, why did they "out" Ms. Plame, because her husband told the truth that there were no weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, before we invaded! And, of course, there were no weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, oh, I forgot, we are still looking for them - yeah, right! So, since Plame's husband, Joe Wilson, blew the whistle on the administration before the invasion started by stating that the basis for going to war was bogus, she got outted! And little Libby now gets a half-assed pardon to keep his little loyal ass quiet, er, loyal, and make everybody talk about how horrible W is for commuting his sentence.

Hell, that is the least of what W is horrible about. Follow the story back to the original cause, and the now proven fact that W lied us into this war. That is horrible! And we are still there, that is also horrible.

Finally, something else that is horrible....What the hell are the Democrats in Congress waiting for to impeach this horrible bunch!??? Come on Nancy, ITMFN!!!!!

Earlier this year, when I had a bunch of nonnies were posting a bunch of BS on this blog, I paid more attention to it. Then the BS got nasty, and I stopped allowing anonymous comments. At that time, I picked up a part-time teaching job, which became full-time, and I didn't have much time to blog.

I refuse to blog about my teaching! PERIOD!

However, being that this is summer, I thought for sure, someone would comment, but alas, no chance. Therefore, I have decided to allow the anonymous commnents, for the time being. I am expecting the worst, and hoping for the best. Anywhere in the middle, and I would be happy.

When the school year starts again, I will probably go back to brief postings here and there.

BTW, I opened up the comments section earlier this month, and still had no takers! Oh well...

Summer is here, officially, as of the 21st.

It has been a busy month. Server crashed, had to get a replacement. Backups were fine - thank you! So, I haven't been available as "usual"! What can I say, "shit does happen!"

Since my last post, in my world, the main event has been the server crash. I know there have been many things going on in the world of politics and religion! However, I was happy this past week when the USA beat Mexico in the Gold Cup, 2-1. Yes, that is soccer!

The All-Star game is coming up in San Francisco. This will be the first All-Star game in that city that I haven 't been to or in the city to watch or hear. That fact saddens me. I had plans to fly out there for it, but, when the server crashed, the funds for that trip went into getting the new server. Some times in life, priorities suck!

I noticed that the White House has its back against the wall, on various topics. Nice to see that the CIA came clean with everything it did, up through 1973! Big whoop! I would love to see the crap that they did since the time of Ronald Reagan through the current dirtbag republican that we have in office now! And, yes, that would include the Clinton years! Hell, if Bill did something wrong during those years, it should come out now while his wife is running for that office!

I am getting tired of the Reagon/Bush/Clinton years, and I don't think I would like to see them continue after '08.

Immigration has finally turned out to be a hot issue, well, illegal immigration, if you will. Personally, I still think that the biggest problem is illegal employment! Crack down on the employers who are hiring illegals to avoid paying payroll taxes, and you won't have this problem. The employers will have to pay at least the minimum wage, which they are not doing now, and then, you would see Americans doing those "jobs", that Americans won't do. Those are the jobs that don't pay minimum wage! Your Social Security issue would correct itself for at least a decade!

I am starting to sound like a kid, well, that would make sense :)

I have been teaching high school kids, US History, since the beginning of March :) That is the reason for the drastic drop off in postings here. I have been doing lessons plans on a daily basis after school.

While CECA has been here to run the business, I signed up to teach in the local school district. At first, I was just doing sub work. In early March, I got a call from a school secretary who wanted me to come in and teach. The regular teacher had a situation, and they were not sure if that teacher was going to come back. As it turned out, I ended up finishing the semester with these kids!

The kids were great! I love US History! I think it was a wonderful situation! The department head was very helpful. She got me going in the right direction and I took it from there. We met and talked regularly about where the classes were, and what they needed.

I got there just after the kids had learned about WWI, so, I picked up in the 1920s. We will only get through the Cold War. I am going to miss out on teaching the counterculture of the 60s. I was hoping to get there, but, we just don't have enough time. This coming week is the last week of instruction, we have a test on the Cold War, and then we will be reviewing for the final, the following week.

Yes, Summer is almost here!

Sorry for the lapse, but, very busy, sick, and dealing with teenage drama! Not much time to blog. But, here goes!

Way to go Florida! They won the NCAA Basketball Championship again!

Poor Imus. CECA watches him every morning, and she is upset that he is getting suspended.

Still have the crap in my lungs from that cold/fever that started over a month ago. I sound like a life long smoker when I cough, and I don't smoke, never have!

Baseball season has begun. Too bad my Giants have started so poorly!

Pro Basketball and Hockey are both getting ready for their incredibly long playoffs! Why do they even have a real season?

I loved the 49ers off-season pickups in the free agent market. 49ers are going to be in the playoffs this year! SuperBowl Bound! You heard it here first!

Son, and the teenage drama continue. He is with his mom this week in Cali, but, the drama will pick right back up when he gets back on Sunday night....like a bad soap opera!

I have a new job...and I love it! That is what is keeping me so busy! Will tell you more later! :)

That was the worst flu I have had in years! Fever, headache, coughing, running nose, and spitting up that yukkie stuff from the lungs. I couldn't get out of bed for 3 days. Finally had to do some work, and got that done, but, then, immediately back in bed!

And last weekend, I had such great plans to finish off the work out room. Oh well, best laid plans!....

So, this weekend, unfortunately, we will try to finish off the work out room, but, we have some prior engagements which we must go to, so, we don't have as much time. But, we will do the best we can and see where we are by the end of the day!

I have been enjoying the NCAA March Madness Tournament. Who are you rooting for this year? I am rooting for UCLA & Florida again!

American Idol 12 Finalist

OK...Now that the competition has narrowed down to the final 12, I figured this would be a good time to start blogging about this year's competition.

I will state right now, that I think the person to beat is Melinda Doolittle. I feel she is so much more over the top than any of the others, that this looks to be a slam dunk for me. Of course, I thought Kat McPhee was a slam dunk last year, and Taylor Hicks beat her. CECA is still bragging about last year!

A few things about Doolittle: she has a very unique face, almost cartoon-like. Her smile has a lot of extra gums that show. It makes me wonder if that helps the sound wave as it leaves her mouth. No joking, I was seriouly wondering about this. I have noticed other singers with this unique physical characteristic, just wondering if anybody else ever noticed this, or am I just over analyzing!? Could it be that that type of mouth structure has an advantage for a singer? Regardless of what you think about that topic, I think that Doolittle voice is the best by far in the competition, and she knows what to do on the stage. She is not awkward or clumsy. She has the heart of an entertainer. And best of all, you can really tell that she is really enjoying what she is doing. When she is finished, she is extremely humble when listening to the judges, almost child-like. A breath of fresh air!

As for the general competition, I would not be surprised to see the final five competitors, all women. None of the guys have that spark that makes me feel like that are extremely unique. The women are just on a completely different playing level this year than the guys. It is like watching Major League teams vs. high school teams, there really is no comparison.

Last night there were some surprises, but, nothing that is going to drastically change the outcome of this years competition.

Son & Girlfriend off to the Ball

They did it! They are on the way to the military ball that I mentioned the other day. There will be a couple of generals at this particular dance. There happens to be a big pow wow of the military brass here in town this weekend. Some big special deal that is in all of the local papers.

Anyway, after Son got home from school, we had to rush over to the tux place to pick up the tux. He had left a note on my computer last night that I found this AM. In the note, he requested that I pick up the tux for him so, all he would have to do, would be to come home, get dressed and go. Unfortunately, he forgot that he had to try it on first! So, off we went.

The tux fit fine, and it matches her dress nicely! Due to come plumbing issues at her house, she had to get ready here! No problem. CECA made sure everything was fine! :)

We have pictures that we are sending to the grandparents! :)

Anyway, CECA and I are looking forward to a nice quiet evening! Seeya!

Libby Guilty

Well, it is about time. It took the jury 10 days to convict him, but, Scooter Libby is guilty on 4 of the 5 charges.

Now comes the fun part. Since it was basically obstruction of justice & perjury- that he was guilty of, what was Libby lying about and trying to hide?

Was he trying to protect those above him? Protect them of what? More lying? To who?

WE, The American People!

Time to get out those impeachment papers!

Spring Tanning is here

Down here in South Florida, Spring Training has started. The weather is wonderful, and the tourist, er, northern baseball fans are here! The baseball games only take up about 3 hours of time, and the rest of the day is usually spent at the beach.

Coming from San Francisco, the only real time that was ever spent at the beach was during Indian Summer in September. That was the only time during the year, except for an occasional heat wave, that you could enjoy the weather at the beach. Seeing everyone in a bathing suit was odd. The foggy conditions, and cool weather in San Francisco, always kept everyone's skin, milky white! For the couple of days that we were at the beach, the glare off of the pale skin caused us all to wear sunglasses!

Now, I am not saying that the tourists, here, in South Florida, are milky white; pasty, would be a better discription. They are older, with more celulite, and less hair. However, they do over apply the suntan lotion, giving their body that pasty look. The lotion is never worked all the way into the skin, so, dashes and blotches of lotion show all over the body. It is like looking at a small child who got into moms lipstick, and thought it was cool to draw all over their body, only this lipstick would be white!

The tans come out uneven, and after a few days or a week down here, they head back to the snow bound areas that they come from to show off their tans, and tell what a wonderful time they had down here. I will say that they do get a bit of color. Compared to what they looked like when they got here, they do have a tan.

Of course, there is the other extreme. The younger tourists, who come down here during Spring Training, and go to the bars until they close. Then they wake up in the morning, and decide that they are going to the beach to get a tan. They get to the beach hungover, forget the lotion, and lay down on a blanket. They fall asleep, and wake up four hours later. Lobster is a good word to describe them. And when they leave, they usually have a 2.5 hour ride on a plane, which can be most uncomfortable in their condition. The sad part is that they only have 1/2 a tan. The other side never got done! Two-tone, is a good description of that kind of tan! You can tell when someone has this, due to the peeling of the skin about three to four days later.

Yes, it is Spring Tanning season.

Renting a tux for the Hipster

Son and his girlfriend are going to a dance next Thursday evening. She is in ROTC and they are having a military ball that night, because there is no school next Friday - teacher in-service day or something like that!

Last Fall, we rented a Tux for Son for the Homecoming dance. We went back to the same place. They had just changed their computer systems over, so, Son had to get remeasured. The looks on Sons face when they took his leg measurements was priceless. They didn't get it right. When he came out to show us how he looked, the pant legs were about 2 inches too long! If my memory serves me, the same thing happened during the homecoming dance.

This time, I believe his pants will fit properly! This is what happens when you are used to wearing your pants on your hips and not at your waist!

Made in America should not be vetoed

Well, W and his cronies are at it again, the war on the American worker! Legislation that will strengthen the Security for Americans at home, is in jeopardy of being vetoed because there is a clause in the legislation which would extend union protections to 45,000 airport workers. I thought in this War on Terror, we were pulling out all of the stops, spending whatever was needed to get the job done?

The possibility of union workers must scare this administration more than some far off terrorist in a cave somewhere.

I don't blame the workers for requesting the protection either. Look at what this Administration has done to our military; sending them into a combat zone with inadequate equipment. I would want some protections too. And at least the workers produce goods and services in AMERICA! Not some offshore slave factory, where the profits go to the republicans...oh, maybe that is why we will see this President veto this security bill, because, maybe, his party won't feel secure!

Another House Project

It seems like they never end.....

Well, as some of you know, last summer Son and I finished off his room out in the second building. He is all set up with a nice big room off of the garden. 14 x 20 feet with cable TV with surround sound, Internet access, and a refrig for sodas and snacks. He also has his own entrance, and the neighborhood kids love to drop in and play video games after school. CECA and I love it because they can make all the noise they want, and we don't hear them :)

We have been working on phase two of that building this past week. There was space for a car garage, but, we are making it into a workout room/work shop. We are insulating and finishing off the walls, putting down indoor/outdoor carpet, and placing a TV near the ceiling for entertainment during workouts! We already wired new recessed lighting into the ceiling, and had to cut around the openings today. Talk about dusty! I looked like Santa when I was done! :)

Hopefully it will be done in about a week! I will keep you posted!

Over the past six months, I have started my own organic veggy garden. I believe I mentioned this back in about September. Well, the veggies are coming along just fine. I increased the size of the garden last weekend by another 120 square feet. The garden is now about 37 feet long, and about 12-13 feet wide. I have buckets of spices around the side of the garden. I also have 8 buckets of tomotoes and three buckets of peppers!

I had a nice little Italian man come by one day, and saw the garden, and his eyes lit up. He used to have a garden in New York, but, now he lives down here. The next day, he brought by two organic tomatoe plants, and a fig tree for me to plant. Another neighbor brought over some seeds of his favorite veggy, beets. The seeds were old, and didn't take. However, I went and got some organic beet seeds and planted those, and they are coming up :)

CECA loves the garden, and the many salads that we have been able to have from our own gardening, and she just loves the taste of the organic veggies so much better than the store bought type. Son's friend come over now and instead of a sugar snack, they prefer a carrot, or broccoli, or tomatoe or cucumber or whatever is ready for picking that day!

Has Bush ever been successful at ANYTHING!?

Contested elections and marriage to Laura (including offspring) don't count. Please provide what you think George W. Bush has been successful in completing, either as President or before his years in the White House.

This war on terror, has not really been defined. Who are we really fighting? Were is the enemy? Osama been Forgotten, is not an answer! In WWII, we knew if we didn't fight the Nazi's that our way of life in America would be changed if the Nazi's came here. So, we fought them there! They had an army and navy and air force and secret services. They were a formidable foe! And we beat them. The terrorists, by definition, don't have an army, navy or air force, but basically secret services or should I say suicide bombers!

We are spending our hard earned tax-payer dollars using our military to beat back a ragtag band of suicide bombers. That is truely a waste of resources! In the meantime, we are only encouraging various people to join up with the terrorists! This is never wise!

If our country had proper protections at the borders, we wouldn't have to worry about terrorists. We wouldn't have to fight them over there for fear that if we don't fight them there, they will come here! If our borders were secure, they couldn't get in! No way, no how! Cost spend in Iraq so far and future costs of our injured military will cost this country in the trillions. Cost of a wall across the entire Mexican border should cost about 300 billion. (It just cost 2 billion to build 14 miles of wall between San Diego and Tijuana, so, you do the math for a 2,100 mile wall!) I imagine securing the Canadian border would cost much more! Even if it is five times more, that would be 1.5 trillion more, but still under the costs of this war in the long run, and it will be there for the forseeable future!

Once we have secured our borders, there would be no point in worrying about terrorist getting into America. The Walls would remove those fears, and people would be free again to live the American dream and not have to continually be told about the fear of the American nightmare!

So, should we spend 1.8 trillion on walls and be secure, or, should we spend 3100 military lives and counting, and probably more than 2 trillion on this so-called "War on Terror?"

Stop funding the fascist war profiteers!

Support the troops

I have a question for those Nony's out there: Do you support the troops? Apparently the Republicans don't. How can W ask for a surge? How can he ask for more money? At the current time, the troops don't have the equipment that they need to do the job they are being asked to do!

Why is this?

The last congress only approved 9 out of 11 appropriation bills. Those two bills covered Homeland Security and the Military. However, there was not enough in that appropriation bill to cover this surge, so, apparently, they didn't even get this appropriations bill correct. They knew this surge was coming last Summer.

Geez,...one out of eleven! YUK! That is not supporting the troops, or the country for that matter. The last congress had a job to do and they simply didn't do it. When that happened, did you Nony's call your congressman to express your displeasure with them, or was that OK with you? What kind of a conservative are you that allows congresspeople to not get the job done? What kind of conservative are you that allows congresspeople to not support the troops with the proper equipment?

Think about this for awhile! Please! What is wrong with this picture? If you don't see anything wrong with this picture, then you are a brainwashed Moonie fascist republican. You are not a true American!

For those of you who said the Democrats don't have any ideas or plans, within the past week, there have been three different "ideas" put forth by the Democrats which support the troops. I am waiting to see what the Republicans come up with as a "plan." You should be thankful that there are people now in congress who have brains, and ideas, and want to get things done FOR THE TROOPS, despite what the Moonie times wants you to believe!
